Award-winning and widely-recognised artist Barbara Beasley-Southgate has enjoyed a successful career over four decades pursuing her first love - painting. This success includes holding regular solo exhibitions throughout Australia, as well as having two very successful exhibitions in the UK.
Basically self-taught, Barbara developed her style through the guidance and influence of several well-know Australia artists. She has worked in in a variety of mediums including pastels, oils, gouache and watercolour, with her work capturing true colour, clarity of vision, as well as her love of the Australian countryside. Barbara's dynamic, yet restful paintings, are full of freshness, energy and movement, inviting all to share her enthusiasm and insights into the nature of things.
To continue her commitment to obtaining excellence in her work Barbara has travelled extensively, exploring her inner vision and re-defining anew her spiritual relationship with the Australian environment, and more recently, the British, European, New Zealand and more recently the USA.
She also draws much inspiration from the magnificent environment of Mansfield and the Delatite Valley, having lived in this area, from 1989-2001. This is still reflected in the wondrous moods and colours of her latest paintings.
Barbara's immense passion for painting, with her commitment to share her artistic gift, led her to also be a well-respected teacher in both oils and pastels, including teaching demonstrations at Art Societies and Rotary Art Shows throughout Victoria, as well as being a judge at many Art Shows.
