Wendy Havard

Wendy is a past student of Peter Smales, who taught her tonal and impressionist oil techniques, and of Nell Frysteen, taught her  pastel and colourist techniques.

She continues her journey exploring oils, pastels and water-colour, often borrowing techniques from one medium to influence another.

Wendy is passionate about the natural environment and strives to portray the beauty of nature. She is inspired by the natural ecosystem of land, water, animals and plants and through her art work hopes to inspire others to take the time to appreciate the unique landscapes and animal habitats that we have in Australia.

Wendy often layers colour to accentuate the character and light in a landscape, finding the combination of colours that convey the sense or spirit of a particular place. Intrigued by animals, Wendy delights in painting them to portray their individual character.
